Text 1 - About Brazil and tourism

I wrote this text as one of my assignments during my English course at ILAC. I don't remember exactly the title or the theme.

Brazil is known by his biggest festival called 'Carnaval'. It happens in February, but sometimes in March, depending on the year's calendar. It takes place in different States and each city has his own way to celebrate it.

The most popular is Rio de Janeiro's carnival, which seems like a Parade, with tons of colors, cars, people with matching costumes, dancing in sync, and tributes. Each samba music academy has to follow a theme and stick to it during the celebration. Sao Paulo has the same, but with different samba academies.

I am from Recife. In the State I live, Pernambuco, we have various ways to celebrate Carnaval. We don't have samba, as Rio; we have frevo. It's a different kind of music, played with other instruments. We don't have Parades. Our carnival is made on the streets and open to everybody to join. And the weather is the known South American summer; very hot. As in Brazil people are allowed to drink alcoholic beverages in public places, there are a lot of vendors selling beer and other beverages. It's a celebration for everybody, even children. Especially because people wear costumes, make noise and sing along the carnival anthems.

Nobody knows how exactly how those festivities were created, but most people in Brazil like to party, so we just enjoy it. It's the most important and popular attraction in my Country, and it's also a part of our culture. It's a part of the Brazilian people, that may reflect kindness and a joyful spirit. Tourists all over the world go to Brazil to have this experience. I totally recommend it.
